Catamarans

Intermarine, under the Rodriquez brand, built also catamarans, that are a valid solution to sail safely, carrying a large number of passengers and taking up as little space as possible in length: they are able to carry from 200 to 1500 passengers (and in many versions also cars and trucks) with a speed from 20 to 40 knots.
Worth to mention is the important contract Intermarine signed in 2002 with a Brazilian shipping company, for the construction of ten aluminium catamarans, to be used to connect the two sides of the Rio de Janeiro Bay, to contribute at the reduction of traffic and pollution downtown. The hulls shapes of these vessels, especially the bows, have been studied in order to optimize the sea-keeping qualities.

In 2003, an Italian shipping company awarded another important contract for the construction of three 40m catamarans, to be used for transportation of passengers in the Gulf of Naples.

Then, in 2006, Intermarine won a tender for the construction of five wave-piercing catamarans for the Sultanate of Oman, confirming its abilities of design and technology as well as the continuous search for innovating solutions reached in over 100 years of activity.
These catamarans have a length of 52 metres and are completely built in aluminium. Three ships (the WPC-52S) are for passengers, cars and trucks transportation (they carry 100 passengers, 10 crew units and 22 vehicles at a maximum speed of 40 knots), while the remaining two (the WPC-52R) are tailored for Search and Rescue operations (they can carry up to 200 rescued people, and achieve a maximum speed of 40 knots).
