A dedicated and specialized department of Intermarine designs and produces, since 1998, auxiliary on-board components, such as monitoring and control systems, hydraulic systems, and stabilization systems.
These high-tech systems and components are installed onboard several types of ships (mono hull, catamarans, hydrofoils, wave piercing).
The specialists of the Rodriquez Marine Systems (RMS) Department of Intermarine offer their capability to tailor their products to customer’s requirements also for other shipyards.
The RMS bow thruster is very compact, and its thrust can be directed in both directions. It can be managed from up to 2 remote control panels, to be installed in the wheelhouse and the flying bridge. The prime mover is an electric motor; in order to reduce the noise, the transmission is coupled to the prime mover utilizing an elastic coupling and shock absorbers. The advanced propeller design provides a high propulsive efficiency, avoiding any cavitation effects under all operational conditions. The system is available in different versions, for aluminium, steel and FRP (Fiber Reinforced Plastic) boats.
RMS has developed different electric actuators for fin stabilizers, suitable for fin dimensions ranging from 0.4 m2 to 3.5 m2. The fins are made of reinforced fiberglass, have a profile corresponding to NACA 0015, and are suitable for any kind of boat ranging from 20 to 70 meters.
The intruder consists of a mobile blade, a teflon plate and an aluminum support plate in contact with the transom. The movement is transmitted through a hydraulic/electric cylinder. RMS also has studied and realized intruders with a curved profile, even more performing.
In order to improve the comfort of the passengers of fast ferries when traveling at high speed, a very sophisticated stabilization system has been developed and implemented by RMS specialists: such a system consists of a set of properly controlled hydrodynamic appendixes able to reduce drastically pitch, roll and yaw of the platform.
Retractable thrusters are a very efficient solution in all those cases in which the shape of the hull doesnâ€™t allow the installation of a fixed bow thruster. These retractable bow thrusters are fitted with an electro/hydraulic system to switch the propeller from its â€œoffâ€ to â€œonâ€ position and are available also in steerable versions over 360Â°, so increasing the maneuverability of the ship at zero speed.
RMS designs and manufactures steering gears for leisure boats, fast ferries and military vessels. They can be installed on hulls built in steel, aluminum or composite. These systems can be operated by hydraulic or electric actuators and managed by software integrated with the stabilization systems, improving their overall performance.
T-foils are used for high technological platforms and are developed to satisfy the specific hydrodynamic requirements of the vessel. In this regard Intermarine is used to work side by side with the naval engineer team to achieve the expected results in terms of stabilization and performance. Intermarine can also provide retractable T-foils, when requested to preserve the stabilizer from damages during mooring operation or at low speed.
