Steering and mooring equipment has been a core business of Rodriquez Marine System (RMS) just from the very beginning. RMS tunnel bow thrusters production is extremely wide and able to cover thrust performance ranging from 3 to 21 KNewton without any gap. RMS thrusters can be powered by an electrical, hydraulic or mechanical transmission, according to the specific needs. Noise reduction with the aim to increase the boat silencing is always pursued and achieved using elastic coupling and shock assorbers for the transmission of the prime mover.
For higher value of thrust RMS is also able to provide retractable propellers till the maximum thrust of 50 KNewton. This particular kind of thusters are also available in steerable versions which improve very much the manoeuvrability of the vessels at zero speed and can be used in connection to other systems for platform stabilization when the vessels are riding at anchor.
A natural extension of retractable bow thrusters in the military market are the so called “Take Home” systems referred as those systems able to resist to an underwater explosion, caused by a mine or a torpedo, and to take back to the harbour the damaged vessel. On this regard the synergy with Intermarine and the in house design capability have permitted to propose on the market a very efficient and low cost solution already developed for unit in the range of 7000/8000 tons.
